Hp30 History
Daily maximum Hp30 — the 30-minute geomagnetic index from GFZ Potsdam, on the same 0–9 scale as Kp but at higher time resolution.
☀️ Solar Cycle 25 — near peak activity
We are currently in Solar Cycle 25, which began in December 2019. The cycle reached its predicted peak (solar maximum) around late 2024–2025, making this one of the most active periods for aurora in over a decade. Activity will gradually decline toward solar minimum, expected around 2030. The high frequency of Hp30 ≥ 5 events you see in recent history is a direct result of this elevated solar activity.
